Ever feel like you just can’t get on top of your workload? You have tasks and projects that are weighing you down, or you have preparations to make for the next day. These things are bogging you down and you seem to fall behind every day. If you find that you’re having difficulty keeping up, take a look at some of our tips below to see how you can improve your workday.

Identify Tasks to be Automated, Delegated, or Reduced

Take some time to figure out if any of your tasks can be handled better. If something can be automated using a helpful app, automate it. If you’re taking on too many things at once, try to delegate those things to other co-workers if possible. Something isn’t providing you with value? Cut it out of your daily routine or find ways to increase its value in relation to the effort you put into it.

Stop Using Your Head to Organize

Don’t rely on your memory to keep you organized throughout your workday. More often than not, you might forget to do something crucial. You might even start “ping-pong” between responsibilities without truly completing any of them. Take notes instead. There are many different kinds of apps for your smartphone, desktop, or tablet to help you keep track of things. If you find typing out tasks or responsibilities to be too cumbersome, try out an app with speech-to-text functions.

Create a Spreadsheet to Organize Your Workday

To meet deadlines and finish projects in a hurry, outlining your day ahead of time might help. It will keep you disciplined in your work and will help you maintain structure throughout the day. It may also help you keep a checklist of things that you need to do, which helps to make you feel more accomplished when it is time to go home.

Eliminate Unproductive Mornings

The morning hours can be some of the toughest to work through for some people. If you find yourself becoming extra lazy in the mornings, dedicate some time in the morning to creating that spreadsheet or calendar of responsibilities that you need to complete during that workday. At the very least, this will help you maintain productivity.
