Endurance

A warehouse associate who has physical endurance is an asset in the warehouse. Many warehouse positions require heavy physical labor. Even jobs that require operating machines, being strong can provide you with an edge. The most common way an associate will need to use their strength is through lifting objects. These objects might be boxes, skids, equipment, or any number of other things.

Even if you’re not the strongest person, if you can lift and move objects consistently for an entire shift, you’ll fit in a warehouse environment nicely.

It isn’t just about upper body endurance, either. It’s also about the lower body. Warehouses are large buildings and typically sprawl over many thousands of square feet. The type of work you’d be doing might require walking back and forth from one end to the other.

Precision

A successful warehouse associate will also have good precision. Precision comes in handy in many areas. When operating a forklift, you’ll need to be precise about where the forks are going into the skids. When collecting parts or keeping track of stock, you will need to match and compare product ID numbers.

Precision also helps keep you safe. Warehouses can be hazardous working environments if proper care isn’t put into safety. If you’re driving a forklift in tight areas, you will need to be aware of your surroundings and navigate carefully through them. It all comes well with practice, but being precise can give you the proper edge you need early on.

Cooperation

A warehouse succeeds when everyone works together. There may be some instances where warehouse workers will work independently. However, by and large, there will be some level of interaction involved. A warehouse associate does well in this environment if they know, or can learn, how to interact with others.
